We Don’t Just
Show Up.
We Show Up.
Two filmmakers. 300+ weddings combined. One shared obsession — capturing the moments that actually matter.
“My wife signed me up for my first wedding. We had a fight about it. Now it’s my full-time life.”
There was no grand plan. No business school. No roadmap. Waqar came from a family with zero connection to the creative industry — he was the one who decided to do something different. He went to school for filmmaking, specialising in cinematography and visual storytelling, and spent years honing a style that’s less “wedding coverage” and more “cinematic short film.”
Then his wife entered the picture — literally. She signed him up for his first wedding gig without asking. He had no idea what he was doing. There was a fight. He showed up anyway. And something clicked.
That first wedding turned into ten. Ten turned into fifty. Fifty turned into 150+. Today, The Spark Studios covers weddings across the GTA and beyond — Pakistani, Indian, Sikh, Greek, Vietnamese, Kurdish, Irish, and everything in between. Every culture, every tradition, treated with the same cinematic care.
The fight with his wife? She doesn’t get credit publicly. But she absolutely does privately.
Trained filmmaker. 10 years in. 150+ weddings deep. Waqar’s strength is in the frame — the way a shot is composed, lit, and cut together to tell a story that feels like a film, not a recap. He doesn’t just document your day. He directs it.
Shooting since 2009. Over 150 weddings across the UK, Pakistan, Dubai, and Canada. Sohaib brings a rare combination of technical precision and artistic instinct — his images carry a glamour and depth that comes from years of shooting across cultures and continents. When he’s not at a wedding, he’s hiking, exploring food, or editing with the same obsessive attention to detail he brings to every shoot.
Happy clients from diverse
Canadian communities
We’ve had the privilege of capturing love stories from cultures across the world — right here in Canada.
What makes us
different isn’t the gear.
We guide couples through the day — where to stand, when to breathe, how to be present. The best shots come from direction, not luck.
From a Mehndi night to a Greek Orthodox ceremony to a Vietnamese tea ceremony — we understand the traditions before we walk in the door.
We don’t cut footage to music. We find the emotional arc of your day and build a film around it. There’s a difference — and you feel it.
Responsive, professional, and genuinely good to be around on the most important day of your life. No drama. No ego. Just results.
Not a number we put on a website for show. Every single one came from a real couple who trusted us with their day and felt we delivered.
We don’t hard sell. We let the films do the talking. If our work moves you — you’ll know we’re the right fit before you even reach out.
Your wedding deserves
a real film.
Check your date, tell us about your day, and let’s see if we’re the right fit for each other.
